If you’re a Saturday Indesign regular, you know that the speaker series is where it’s at. As an event targeted at refreshing your design inspiration and giving you the latest products and insights for your specification journey, SID talks are a sure fire way to capture all you need to know and translate it through engaging, open discussions with some of design’s best and brightest. 

This year is no different, and with the countdown well and truly on to Saturday September 2nd, it’s time to start browsing the lineup and planning your day around the areas you want to learn more about.

Right through event day we’ll have panels, presentations, talks and workshops from many of our participating exhibitors. Saturday Indesign 2023 is just around the corner and with activations and program timings dropping daily we’re all busy planning our dream event schedule. Running from 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM on Saturday September 2nd, Saturday Indesign will roll out across Melbourne, lighting up through our three central precincts (Richmond, Collingwood and CBD) with 34 exhibitors opening their showrooms up for bespoke design experiences. 

As always, the best part of Saturday Indesign is its choose-your-own-adventure vibe. This isn’t a trade show, it’s a full day design festival, where you’re handed the keys to the city. As long as you’ve confirmed your free registration, you can access every showroom, event and activation on offer. Plan your day your way and head to the showrooms you want to see at the times that suit you. Catch up on our timed events and block out the sessions you want to be at, then plan your route across the city via public transport, car pooling, walking trails or with the infamous Saturday Indesign hop-on, hop-off buses courtesy of our transport partner Neolith.

See bespoke installations and activations with The Project

The Project is one of the most highly anticipated features of Saturday Indesign. It is an opportunity for architects, designers and other creatives in the community to work with exhibiting companies and their products to create never before seen installations, visual displays and interactive experiences within showroom spaces. 

Each year, the teams respond to a brief provided by Saturday Indesign to produce an experiential feature that reflects the values, talents and stories of all parties involved.

For 2023, we’ve challenged Saturday Indesign exhibitors and creative partners to embrace their visionary side, transforming their spaces into a paradise of their own creation. Working to the theme of “utopias”. 

CBD Precinct have stepped up to the challenge with four collaborations set to transport you to a design utopia. Be sure to see these exclusive works from Maricor Maricar x Signature Floors, Indigenous Creators from Naarm & Nationally x Winya, Internal Design Team x Aspect Furniture and RMIT x HOW. + Autex Acoustics.

Grab a coffee and start your day off at 9:30am at Signature Floors with a Q&A with Maricor Maricar designer (session repeated at 3:00pm), followed by some insights into sustainability at ‘Materials of Tomorrow’ talk at 11:30am at Aspect Furniture

At 11:00am head over to Brickworks to join the Saturday Indesign Design Discussion ‘Growing graduates into leaders and join an intimate conversation bringing together the views of early career architects and senior practitioners to address the benefits and challenges of a contemporary design education against the reality of day-to-day practice. 

The afternoon heats up over at Sub-Zero Wolf + e&s + Omvivo as they host the next Design Discussion: Hybrid at heart: Future of kitchens and bathrooms from 2:00pm. Join to explore how the past few years, and our additional time at home has changed our views – and aspirations – for our kitchens and bathrooms. 

Supercharge your learning with CPD points over at Winya with a must-see presentation on cultural appropriation and Indigenous design principles, at 10:30am head to HowGroup & Autex to hear from the team behind their Saturday Indesign Project installation and stick around for their industry panel that will discuss the importance of connectivity as a utopian value for future sustainable design. Then, head back to Sub-Zero Wolf + e&s + Omvivo for Champagne and Oyster Hour with David Hicks.
